Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Shaurya Goel, an individual developer who publishes Glasshour (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the Glasshour app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
In short: memberships renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple Account settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple handles payments and refunds. Glasshour is a focus tool, not a medical or safety device.
1. What Glasshour is
Glasshour is an iPhone app that keeps the apps you choose blocked through Apple’s Screen Time framework. You earn time in them by focusing with your phone put down, and you spend that time to open them for a while.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by Apple’s Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app, or remove any notices from it, except where the law allows this.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to use Glasshour. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms for you.
3. No account
Glasshour does not have accounts. What you set up in the app is stored only on your iPhone and is excluded from backups, so it cannot be recovered if you delete the app, reset the device or move to a new phone. Your membership can always be restored from the App Store with the same Apple Account.
4. Memberships and payments
4.1 Plans
Glasshour’s features require a membership. Depending on what the app shows you, these may include an auto-renewing weekly or yearly membership, and a one-time lifetime purchase. The price, length and any offer are shown in the app before you confirm the purchase, in your local currency as set by the App Store.
4.2 Free trials and offers
Some offers include a free trial. It is only shown to people who are eligible for it, as Apple determines. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts into the paid membership shown to you, and you are charged at the end of the trial. Some offers are available only for a limited time or to some members; each one’s terms are shown before you confirm.
4.3 Auto-renewal
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. An auto-renewing membership renews at the same length and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
4.4 Cancelling
You can manage or cancel your membership in the iOS Settings app → your name → Subscriptions, or from Glasshour’s own Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
4.5 Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple, and we cannot issue refunds ourselves. You can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple’s refund policy applies.
4.6 Price changes
We may change prices. If the price of your current membership goes up, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies.
5. Fair use
Please do not:
- use Glasshour to monitor or restrict another person’s device without their knowledge and consent;
- tamper with the app, or exploit a defect to get access you have not earned or paid for;
- introduce harmful code, or interfere with the app or the services it relies on;
- use the app in breach of any law.
6. Health and safety
Glasshour is a productivity tool for general wellbeing. It is not a medical device and does not replace professional advice. If your phone use causes you real distress, please speak to a qualified professional.
During a Focus session the app plays an alarm when the phone is picked up or you leave the app. Do not start a session while driving, cycling, operating machinery, or anywhere a sudden alarm or a blocked app could put you or others at risk. Use the camera to place the hourglass only where it is safe to do so.
7. Screen Time and blocked apps
Glasshour blocks apps only with the Screen Time permission you grant, and you can remove it at any time in the iOS Settings app, which stops all blocking at once. Emergency calls through the Phone app are never blocked. We are not responsible for messages, notifications or calls you miss in apps you chose to block, or for Screen Time behaviour controlled by iOS.
8. Our content
The app, its design, text, artwork and sounds belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Some sound recordings are used under their own licences, which are credited in the app. “Glasshour” and its icon are ours. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely without owing you anything.
9. Services we rely on
Glasshour uses Apple’s Screen Time, StoreKit, camera and motion frameworks, and the third-party services named in our Privacy Policy: RevenueCat for purchase status, PostHog for anonymous usage events, and Sentry for crash reports. Their own terms and policies also apply to them.
10. Privacy
How we handle data is explained in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
11. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that blocking will work on every app or every iOS version, or that it will meet your particular needs. Some places do not allow these exclusions; there, they apply only as far as the law permits.
12. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, including lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Glasshour in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
13. Ending these terms
You can stop at any time by deleting the app and cancelling your membership. We may suspend or end your use of the app if you seriously breach these terms, or if we stop offering it. Sections 8, 11, 12, 15 and 16 continue after these terms end.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always at glasshour.brioappblocker.com/terms, with its date at the top. If a change is significant, we will mention it in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
15. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting any formal dispute, please email us so we can try to resolve it informally within 30 days. If that fails, the dispute will be settled by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and conducted in English. Claims that cannot go to arbitration fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru. Where you live may give you consumer rights that these terms cannot override, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts; those rights are not affected.
